Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.

Who we are

Bush Telegraph is operated by Out West AI Pty Ltd (ABN 84 695 421 615), an Australian company. That is the entity that holds the information described below and is responsible for it under the Privacy Act 1988. Questions, requests and complaints about this policy go to support@bushtelegraph.ai.

What we hold

Two different sets of information, and it matters which is which.

Your account

Your name, email address, and optionally a company name, phone number and timezone. Your password is stored hashed, never in readable form. We record when you last signed in and when your API credentials were last used.

The contacts you upload

Whatever you put in them: email addresses, names, and any custom fields you choose to add. These are yours. We process them so we can send your mail and show you how it performed. We do not market to your contacts, sell them, rent them, or merge them with anyone else's list.

What sending produces

When a campaign goes out we record delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, complaints and unsubscribes, so you can see what happened. Opens and clicks are recorded against the individual contact, along with the IP address and browser user-agent the request came from. That is how open and click tracking works everywhere; we are telling you because you should know it, and because your own privacy notice to your contacts probably needs to say so.

Payments

Card details never reach us. Paid plans go through Stripe's hosted checkout, and we store only the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe gives back, plus invoice records. If you are on the free plan we hold no payment information at all.

What we never do

  • Sell, rent or share your contact list.
  • Email your contacts on our own behalf.
  • Use your contacts to build any kind of shared or cross-account audience.

Who else can see it

The people who run Bush Telegraph, and only where they need to in order to operate or support the service. Beyond that: Stripe for payments, and the mail infrastructure that carries your campaigns. We are not in the business of passing your data anywhere else.

How long we keep it

Account and campaign data stays while your account is open. Delete a contact and it goes; delete your account and the contacts, campaigns and reporting that belong to it go with it. Addresses that have hard-bounced or complained are kept on a suppression list after deletion — that list exists specifically so we do not mail someone again who has already bounced or objected, and it holds the address and the reason, nothing more.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contacts can be exported from the application at any time on any plan, including the free one. For anything else, email us.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so rather than quietly reissuing the page.
